Chapter 10: Hunter

"Hey, hold on!" Hunter shouted, finally catching up to Brooke. He smiled at her and managed to snag her hand, walking with her back toward camp. "What's going on?" She rolled her eyes and then pulled the sunglasses off her head, running her fingers through her hair. "Hey." He whispered, stopping and pulling her back toward him. She sighed and then moved back to him, slipping her arms around his neck. She cleared her through and then  kissed him tightly on the lips. Hunter just stood there until she broke away. He watched her head back to her cabin and close the door behind her.

"Well, I'm hungry. Are you hungry?" Jake said, walking up behind him. Hunter shook himself then followed Jake toward the mess hall. "What was that about?"

"I have no clue." Hunter said, shaking his head. "I will never understand her, but the odds of me finding another girlfriend are slim." He cleared his throat and glanced over at that Aphrodite cabin to see Arabella slipping inside. It felt good to be friends with her. He had hoped at one point to woo her or something, but he was glad that they were friends. He just wished that Brooke would be someone he could be friends with.

"Alright. Let's talk to Stitch, then we can get lunch. Since you roped me into this nonsense." Jake said, changing course to the Hermes cabin. The two of them quickly walked inside and changed into dry clothes. Hunter ducked under a bed at the end of the row and looked at the bolt in the leg and saw that it was turned 90 degrees which meant that Stitch was doing business. Hunter turned it to 45 then stood back up. He walked to the corner and ran his fingers down the wall until finding the little switch. He took a deep breath just as the floor gave out. He fell straight down through the tunnel and opened up to a small room. Immediately the sound of Halo and rock music broke into the air. Hunter moved out of the way just as Jake landed with a thud onto the mattress.

"I will never get used to that." Jake said, standing up with a groan.

"Newcomers." Hunter looked up at Jared. He always had the morning shift for guard duty.

"High guard Jared." Hunter and Jake said, patting his chest with his fist twice.

"Is it colder in the winter or in the country?" Jared said, waiting for the code.

"Would you rather walk to school or bring your lunch?" Hunter said in response. "

"Welcome. Enjoy your stay at the Stoll-away." Jared said, moving away from the door. Hunter and Jake walked  through and into a large hall where there were several TV and various video games being played. There was music playing and the constant sound of people floating around the room. Hunter and Jake walked to the end of the room and through another doorway into the chancellor's chamber.

"Chancellor Stitch." Jake said, patting his chest with his fist again. "We've come for supplies." The chair in the middle of the room spun to reveal Stitch, a thin kid about 19 with a long mane of thick black hair. He had freckles and a pair of dark glasses that looked a little bit too big for his face.

"What's the mission?" He said, leaning forward a little.

"Fluff and Stuff with a Clown shoe."

"And the target?"

"Caleb in Ares cabin."

"All involved?"

"Jake Koenigsdorf. Hunter Reed. Along with Daniel Bouvier, Brooke Stephens, and Arabella Foster of Aphrodite cabin." Stitch stood and took a step forward. "They can be trusted."

"Let me check the inventory." He moved to the side of the room and looked at several pieces of paper on the wall. "We've got the marshmallows and the kool-aid." He said with a nod, marking them off. He paused for a second then turned to them. "You want to add chocolate to the smore?" Jake and Hunter exchanged glances.

"This is why you're the chancellor!" Jake said with a laugh. Stitch smiled and nodded.

"Of course. Now, let me bring it out. That'll be 11 drachmas." Hunter dug in his pocket and pulled out 11 drachmas and handed them to him when he came back out with a bag of stuff.

"Good pranking, gentlemen." He said, sliding the drachmas into a coin bag. "Give him hell. That guy is a total asshat. Now, if you'll excuse me I need to IM my mom."

-----------------

"Where are they?" Jake asked, looking a little nervous. "You told Arabella-oh that reminds me. We're going to some party in the woods." Hunter opened his mouth to speak then turned to Jake.

"Says who?" He said, stirring the bucket of molten marshmallow and chocolate syrup.

"Arabella. She invited us to some party. I feel good about it. Totally going to put the moves on her." Jake said with a nod. Hunter laughed.

"Oh, good luck with that." He said, clearing his throat.

"Hey, guys." Arabella said quietly. Hunter was about to speak when he saw her outfit and Brooke's outfit. Brooke was dressed fairly plainly, but Arabella looked amazing. He shook himself and nudged Jake out of his trance.

"Okay, so everyone knows the plan? Arabella goes in and tells everyone to fall asleep until we leave then Daniel and Brooke put the Kool-Aid in Caleb's shoes." Jake said.

"And then Jake and I go in, tie Caleb to the bed and dump the marshmallows on him." Hunter said with a nod.

"Such a waste of marshmallows." Arabella sighed, a small smile on her face. "Good luck." She said, hugging Jake then hugging Hunter. Hunter put an arm around her, a little surprised by the hug. He wasn't complaining in the slightest. She smelled really good. "Please be careful." She finally pulled away to reveal a very perturbed looking Brooke. She shook away the annoyed look and slipped her arms around his neck, kissing him tightly on the lips. He put a hand on her hip and leaned into her a little bit just as he felt her tongue slip into his mouth. His eyes widened as she was pulled away with a little giggle.

"See you two later." Danny said before leading them back toward the front of the cabin. It didn't seem like very long before Hunter saw them sneaking back to the Aphrodite cabin.

"Come on. Let's go." He said, grabbing the bucket which was starting to solidify a little. "We gotta hurry." They rushed forward and slipped inside the Ares cabin. "Got the tape?"

"Here. On 3." Jake whispered, handing Hunter a roll of duct tape. Hunter's heart was beating out of his chest and he felt like he was going to explode with every single snore and shuffle of the sleeping residents. Jake held up his hand then counted up from 1. 1......2.......3. Like a well-oiled machine they started taping Caleb to the bed, passing the rolls of tape under his bed to each other.

"What the hell is going on!?" Caleb shouted, waking up and immediately struggling against the tape. Hunter dropped his tape then grabbed his bucket dumping it on the bed, covering Caleb in the sticky white goo. "WHEN I GET OUT OF HERE, YOU TWO ARE DEAD!"

"Now, we run!" Jake said, dropping his bucket and taking off out the cabin. Hunter followed him and out toward the woods. He didn't think he had ever moved so fast, but he kind of liked the pleasure of the fact they might actually get away with this. Hunter looked back and saw Caleb, like a ghost with marshmallow dropping off of his duct tape covered body, his sheets still hanging off his body. Hunter looked forward just as a spear shot past his head. His eyes widened and he turned to Jake who was whimpering quietly.

"Now, we run faster!" Hunter said, pushing himself faster toward the woods. 3 near misses from a spear and several sharp turns in the woods later, they were sitting on a tree stump, trying to catch their breath.  "Dude...I think we did it."
