Chapter 3: Arabella

As Caleb walked away, Arabella glanced at him. Almost every single day, she had to deal with guys like that. Making moves on her because they thought that they could. Treating her like she was just a thing to be used for their own pleasure. Maybe part of it was Arabella's fault for not telling people that they were wrong about her but she just didn't have that in her. Besides, the last time she had been hurt, she swore that it would never happen again.

She was looking at Caleb and before she even realized what he was doing, she saw him stick out his foot and trip someone that Arabella didn't know. Her siblings started to laugh like it was the best thing they had seen all day and Arabella's stomach clenched. She couldn't laugh a long with them. He looked so mortified as he dusted himself off. Arabella turned to look at a few other girls who were holding their sides, gasping for air and she narrowed her eyes. Maybe she should have said something to them but she couldn't find the words. Instead, Arabella pushed her hair behind her ear, took a deep breath and tried to ignore the sound of her siblings laughing.

Her mind drifted to the guy that Caleb had tripped. As she thought of him, details of his face seemed to slip away from her. Arabella wasn't sure that she had ever met him before but he was just a face that she had seen around camp. She tried to place him in her mind, remember where she had seen him before or what cabin he was in.

"Are you okay?" Daniel asked her, nudging her side a little bit and Arabella jumped slightly out of shock. She turned to look at him and she put on a warm, bubbly smile,

"Yeah, I'm doing great" Arabella told him and she rested her elbows on her knees, placing her chin in her hands. "I'm getting a little tired, though. I didn't get much sleep last night" She giggled and yawned, emphasizing her point.

"Really? Why didn't you sleep?" Daniel asked her, quickly looking away and putting a s'more into her mouth.

"Oh, I really have no idea. Maybe it was because my brother decided to sit on my bed until 3 in the morning, telling me about the new man that he's in love with" Arabella said with sarcasm and Daniel's cheeks turned pink, a wide grin on his face.

"Well, maybe that brother of yours had something really important to say" Daniel huffed.

"Mmhmm"

"And maybe he's really happy that he has a sister who is willing to stay up that late to give him love advice" Daniel grinned at her and Arabella rolled her eyes, patting his arm.

"I'm going to head back to the cabin, Danny. I need to get lots of sleep for caputure the flag tomorrow" Arabella said, tugging on the hem of her shorts, adjusting them.

"Ugh....capture the flag. I hate capture the flag" Daniel groaned, leaning back a little bit and pouting.

"Oh, come on...it's fun" Arabella teased and she stood up. She wasn't the most skilled with a weapon but Arabella was okay. She liked being out in the woods like that, though. It gave her a rush and even though she usually had a knife with her, she never really needed it because of her charmspeak.

Arabella gave Daniel a little wave before she turned and quietly slipped away from the campfire. She walked back towards the cabins, playing with her fingers as she moved. The peace and quiet was nice and that was what she wanted more than anything. Just a little bit of alone time before she had to talk to her siblings again.

She stepped up to her cabin and took a deep breath of the fresh air, standing outside for a moment before she went in. She liked being able to just be around the cabins and look around. It was her home and seeing all of the cabins would never get old for her. After a few minutes, Arabella turned and walked into her cabin, closing the door quietly behind her.

Humming quietly to herself, Arabella slid out of her shoes and she padded over to her bed. She opened up her trunk and placed her shoes neatly inside. As quickly as she could, Arabella changed into her pajamas and she slipped into bed, curling up on her side and hugging her teddy bear tightly. As she slowly drifted off to sleep, Arabella thought about the next day, hoping that it would be a good one.

----------------------------

Arabella yawned and scrunched up her face as the sun broke through the curtain and landed on her bed. She groaned and rolled over, shoving her head into her pillow. All she wanted to do was fall back to sleep. It would be lovely to spend the day in bed with a couple magazines. However, she felt a hand crawl up under her covers and tug on her toes.

"Get out of bed, sleeping beauty" Daniel said and he pulled her covers back. She hated him in that moment, when he was waking her up but the truth is that she didn't know what she would do without him. She would probably never get out of bed. She loved sleeping too much.

"I'm up" Arabella mummbled into her pillow and she pushed herself up, brushing her hair out of her face. She yawned as she rolled out of bed and pulled out her clothes for the day. Arabella was able to get dressed rather quickly and she was just pulling her hair into a loose braid as Daniel pushed her out of the cabin.

"Come on...coffee is waiting for you" Daniel teased her and Arabella perked up a little bit. He led her down to the table and sat her down at the Aphrodite cabin.

"Coffee. Strong. Black. Two sugars" Arabella said to her glass and as soon as the coffee was there, she took a long sip. Right away, she started to feel a bit better. She was addicted to coffee like it was crack.

"Did you have a good sleep?" Daniel asked her, looking around before glancing back at Arabella.

"Oh, yeah. It was fne" Arabella shrugged and she took another sip of her coffee. "Yourself?"

"I had a beautiful sleep" Daniel said and he grinned at Arabellla. She gave him a small smile back then looked out over the grounds. It was going to be an interesting day. Arabella could feel it.
